i cant connect at home
i can connect to the server at work but it wont workhere,
we have asdl to the modem/router downstairs, my feed is from that ,, to my bedroom , how dos the firewall settings work? in fact what are they lol

just says unable to connect to server .....connection timed out

basically firewall settings control what you allow access.It could be that you have mIRC or the server ports blocked in firewall/router (yes, that includes the firewall in winxp). Server ports: 6660-6669, 7000-7001 and port 113 for identity

YOu might try www.practicallynetworked.com and www.dslreports.com for some help. They also have forums, and you may find specific info for your adsl provider
