I noticed whenever i try to run mirc on linux using wine, i get... errors whenever i try to script anything. It's not a thing about writing to ntfs, i installed it to /opt . My problem i think is in the lack of truetype fonts. It likes to "append" tiny white boxes at the end of each line. is that just me?
If so -- would installing freetype and a few ttf fonts correct this?
Any other workarounds?

I think it's just a matter of support...
If you go to the SF WINE page, it will tell you that mIRC is not fully supported =\

I don't run it under Wine, but here's my guess. It could be due to CR/LF handling differences between *ix and Windows. If it happens everywhere there's a hard return, then that's probably it.

Ok I have a question.

WHY is there not version of mIRC for Linux? mIRC is CLEARLY the best IRC client in the WORLD. Yes.

Unforunately linux is lacking in great IRC clients, probably the last application deficiency as far as I am concerned.

I'd happily pay money for a Linux version of mIRC, just as I happily paid money for the Windows version.

Come on Mr Mardam-Bey, pleeease laugh

I wouldn't consider Linux lacking in clients. There's at least 4 that I can name off top of my head, and probably much more available.

Whether Khaled wants to port it to Linux is up to him.

from http://www.mirc.com/khaled/faq.html

Question: Will you be making a Mac, Linux, etc. version of mIRC?
Answer: I'm afraid not, all of my time is taken up working on the Windows version

Yah, unfortunately none are as good as mIRC smirk KVIRC comes close in looks and features, but there's bollocks all scripts around for it.

I am not a programmer unfortunately frown
