A friend called me over to check out a problem he recently started having with his computer.

On boot, and after Win2KPro finishes loading, a window opens asking to register mIRC ... He doesn't remeber ever installing it ... I went to mIRC's site to for uninstall instructions which said to use start-->control panel -> add/remove programs, find mIRC and uninstall ... I did but could not find an entry there... the second alternative was to delete the c:/mirc/ ... the directory is not there... Seems the machine got hit with a trojan ... The two sites recommended at the uninstall page were of little help. I ran Norton Anti Virus (with the latest virus signatures), and I was able to quarantine the mirc.ini file ... but the dang windows still are poping up ... anybody have any ideas about this problem?

It's not shure that mirc is in C:\ it can be installed on any driver, the best way "i think" is to search for mirc.. then see if you find it there.. and also try run a free online virus scanner

check in C:\Program Files\mirc

or do a search for mirc.exe or mirc32.exe
