Both my friend and another guy I know have a problem playing MP3 files with mIRC.

It worked well for some times, but now they hear only less than 1/4 seconds of the start of the mp3.

The other guy converted the mp3 files to wav files, and it played it well.

The Bug happened in both versions 6.03 and 6.1

Please help.

It is not me that have the problem.

My firend has it with one of my scripts which uses mp3 files for sounds.

If he double click on a file, then it playes the sound well. He has all the codecs he needs installed.

How exactly Nvidia has to do with all of this?

seriously dude,
If Bump is the only way for me to make people read this post, then this is what I will do.

mIRC has a bug, and it should be fixed.
Some guy suggested that it has to do with Nvidia, but he didn't mention how. Maybe someone has a solution for this probelm.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug.

If Khaled deems that a fix is necessary and possible, you will learn about it when an update is released.

Please don't wait for a patch to be posted to this thread.

are you using nimo codecs? check this thread and this corrected one ( thanks MaskedCritter)

we've had several posts re nimo causing probs, but i vaguely recall someone with an assortment of probs including sounds who felt nvidia was somehow in the mix, altho they never explained the logic of it. i had intended to also mention nimo in my first post, but had to deal with an emergency and obviously forgot by the time i got back, my apologies.

be aware that mIRC doesnt actually play the sounds, it merely forwards the command to windows, which then tosses it to media player.

You pointed to the same thread in both links. grin *snickers* wink

Yea, I too have had trouble with said codecs. I with someone would just unify the whole codec system and stop using second rate codecs when encoding their audio/video. You install one codec to fix a video and it breaks three. frown (I haven't been able to get ASX, AVI and most WMV to play for months)

As a matter of fact.
Windows doesn't play it right too.

If I open the file with Winamp or Media Player, then it works.

If I open it with MPlayer2 , then I hear the weird sounds.

Maybe mIRC sends the file to MPlayer2. Is there any way to change it, so it will play it using Media player (which is version 9), and not with the MPLAYER2 which is an old version of media player which is still located in all windows??
