I am using a one way VSAT...using 56k modem phone line for upload and SAT for recieve....i read all the posts on this forum and cant solve my problem yet....the system is using a broadlogic receive modem...all programs are working fine with high speed (explorer, cuteftp, filetopia, kazaa, flashget...etc) except MIRC when i download from IRC servers like (irc.action-irc.net or irc.saltek.net....etc) i cant download anything more than 5 KB/S....it seems to me that i am downloading from 56k Modem. any sollution for this i just wish i can download 100KB/s on MIRC confused

thanks for any help guys, if i did post in the wrong place i wish a moderator just moves it for me and sorry for the long post.

I realize you wrote KB, but just to clarify, could you be seeing seeing kilobytes vs kilobits? (mIRc showing Cps or Bps vs net bps ( 1 cps = 8 bits/secs = 1 byte/secs))

lol....no offense i do know the difference between bytes and bits like you said (8 bits = 1 byte) and 1cps is the same as 1KB/s, but here is an example of my line speed test and tell me there is something wrong (my system is a 512 Kbps):

2003-06-10 19:50:28 EST: 408 / 27
Your download speed : 408061 bps, or 408 kbps.
A 49.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 27081 bps, or 27 kbps.

the results vary depending on weather conditions and i still see my system is working properly, so what could be the problem when i use MIRC?

i think i found out the problem....please look here: https://forums.mirc.com/showflat.php?Cat=...amp;amp;fpart=1
the proxy i am using to enable my SAT receive is 127.0.0.1 port 9203 which is used for socks and 9202 for http...i beleive that MIRC DCC port range is between 1024 to 5000 and i cant go lower or higher (my goal port is 9203 and thats out of limit in MIRC software)....so what is the sollution to this guys?

I didnt intend any offense, there have been misunderstandings in the past over bits vs bytes, so it warranted confirmation smile

from the help file re dcc ports: The usual range is 1024 to 5000, though it is possible to specify 64000 as the highest port on some systems.
