It would be very helpful that mirc would have character translation table.
The current problem with international character is that windiows is using it's own encoding format and not ISO.
In example, Polish letters in windows are displayed as cp1250
but most people who are using irc prefer ISO8859-2

What I'm thinking is to create character tables for all encodings, and give user option to select wchich tables should be used to translation.

It apperas to be lot of work, but I belive it should be simple to program. Only problem is with informations about encoding, but I personally don't care, for me mirc by default could be with no informations at all, anyway later people could contribute and send those informations back to author.

Also I belive it would be good idea to try providing unicode supprt, I know there isn't any standard for IRC yet, but mirc is very popular and is power to create new standards, if mirc would start that I belive that after some time problem with encoding would be over.

Congratulations, you did a great work Khaled!

Unicode support has been raised many times before.

Khaled has talked about this, and it probably will be implemented at some point in the future.

what about translation table?
IMO that thing is needed more right now, since all people use non windows encoding on IRC.

They're not so different, actually U in UTF stands for Unicode.
UTF-7, UTF-8, UTF-16 are just different encodings for unicode.
So MonoSex was right.
