I have my own channel connected to a game server I run. If someone enters it before me, they get the op status. Is there anyway to keep the channel running with no one on it so that my op status is always given when I join the channel?

If the server you are on allows it you can register the channel. Type "/cs help" to check the commands. Though channel ownership does run out after a certain amount of time, but as long you log in now and then it'll keep.

Registered a nickname when I was an op. Still, if I leave, comeback, and login my op status is gone.

You have to register the channel, not your nick

not only must you register your nickname AND the channel, each time you go back to the network (for most networks) you must identify to your nickname, and to make changes to the channel, identify as owner of the channel (to channel services).

While the requirements are different from network to network, normally you must identify, and register both nickname and channel.
