Hi, would anyone know how to replace the hostname in ones whois info with your ip address? For example, my whois info tells me, for example:

mag1kus is ~magic@234-334-334-32.static.hgm.vq

I would prefer it to have:

mag1kus is ~magic@234.334.334.32

i.e. my ip address. I've tried connection>localHost and just put in my ip address into both fields and untick 'on connect always get local host/ip address'. But it doesnt work

Actually sometimes it has my ip address in my whois info. But i want it consistently always displaying my ip address.

Many thanks.

Your hostname is determined by your ISP and is replaced with your IP only when the DNS lookup fails for whatever reason. Both of these things are likely out of your control.

Depending on the IRC network you may be able to hide your host with a user mode and/or network services. Ask in #help or your network's designated help channel.

I think you can manipulate the output of the hostname in the format specified using a script.

...but you cannot manipulate the whois reply itself.
