Everything works now...except the dcc function .Is there something I could possibly have overlooked? Its a useful tool in chatrooms, and I really miss it.

Think you could give more information? "X doesn't work" is a horrible description of a problem. laugh

Anyhow, it's probably a router, firewall, or antivirus that is blocking the ports.

I had lost all my mirc files, and downloaded the program again and reinstalled the backup files i had on disc. Only function that does not respond is the dcc..or private chat command you right click on in the members present collumn. It calls a chatter to the side to have a private chat. All the other commands are functioning properly, so this one feature not working is a mystery. I use it quite often as a member of a suppot group, and cannot fix it. Anyone ever have this problem, and is there a solution? Thankyou for your time.

How doesn't it work? If you're support, I'm sure you understand the need for more information. Do you get an error? Does it popup a window saying waiting for ackowledgement and then never goes beyond that? Is it something else?

As I said, it's probably a router/firewall/antivurus issue and a search for those on the forum would help you find a lot of information on them.

yes. the window pops up, waiting for acknowledgement, and then times out and never connects..(did i mention i am not the sharpest tool in the shed? The support group is for disabled people, and not computer support...this is my first effort at repairing .) all other files are being accepted when queried in the positive, so i don't think its a wall.......

If you get the waiting for acknowledgement, then the connection is being blocked by a firewall, router, or antivirus as I mentioned.

http://www.portforward.com can help you to forward the ports needed if it's a router problem. If it's a firewall or antivirus issue, you can often just set them to grant full access to mIRC.
