Hello,

I know this sounds pretty stupid; but i have been trying to get it to work without success: automatic logging of status windows....

Any idea?

Thanks,

Define 'auto' then. A computer can't read your mind, you know.

You only have to type it once. Obviously you need to have some sort of input at some point in time, from then after mIRC "automatically" remembers the logging option(s) specified. If it's not doing that, then that's a separate issue.

auto as in what it does for channels as in, if you open a new channel and have the
Automatically log: Both
option then it logs automatically all channels, even if you never told to log each channel. Automatic means you dont have to input anything, and sadly "Automatically log: Both"(in IRC/Logging btw) doesnt affect status.
That's what i'm wondering about
Thanks

In mIRC Options - IRC - Logging
I have the following settings
Automatically Log Both
Timestamp Logs
Lock Log files
Include Network
Make folder
Date filenames: By Day (note the Day option was just my preference)

All other checkboxes in that section are un-checked and I get my status window logged in each network using a file name in the format of status.yyyymmdd.log

In order to get this to work correctly, I had to close and then restart mIRC after making the changes.

Hope this helps

well pretty weird, i have the exact same options, and it never logged them, i guess it might be because i've been using the same mirc.ini over the last few years

I found that minew weren't being logged until I closed mIRC (actually, I hadn't planned on closing it, there was a power failure, so my system shut down.., LOL )

These settings do overwrite the mirc.ini file, because that is where they are stored, so if you're using a different mirc.ini file, then the settings wouldn't be stored.

Other than that, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.
